Delegation of Journalists from Gilgit Baltistan meets DG ISPR

A delegation of Journalists from Gilgit Baltistan, Azad Kashmir and Hazara Division visited ISPR and interacted with DG ISPR Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor.

Journalists shared their feedback on security situation and development work undertaken by the Pakistan Army.

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations apprised them about the situation along Line of Control and Indian Ceasefire Violations (CFV) deliberately targeting innocent civilians.

DG ISPR said that despite restricted liberty of action for response to Indian fire due to the presence of our Kashmiri brethren on both sides of LOC, Indian fire is always effectively responded focusing on Indian posts only being a professional and responsible Army.

DG ISPR said that Pakistan looks for peace yet any misadventure shall be responded befittingly.

Sirbaz Khan from Hunza Valley becomes first Pakistan to climb Lhotse

History has been made early morning in Nepal as Sirbaz Khan, a mountaineer from the Hunza district of Gilgit-Baltistan, successfully climbs, Lhotse, world’s 4th highest peak.

The 30-year old climber from Hunza Valley accompanying a 12-member team.

Climber Mingma G made the announcement on his Facebook page. According to Mingma Sherpa, the team reached the summit of Mont Lhotse at 09:47 am on May 14, 2019.

Hailing from Aliabad town in Hunza Valley, Sirbaz Khan has already made a respectable place in the mountaineering fraternity by climbing K2 (8,611m) and Nanga Parbat (8,126m)

The team that climbed Mount Lhotse as part of the Lhotse Expedition 2019 include:

  12. Sirbaz Khan (Pakistan)

Sirbaz Khan has yet another mission to accomplish. He is aiming to become the first Pakistani to climb Mount Everest without oxygen. He has been training for #MissionEverest for over a month in Nepal.

Brigadier Inayat Hussain from Hunza promoted to the rank of Major General in Pakistan Army

Major General Inayat Hussain

Brigadier Inayat Hussain hailing from Ganish town of the central Hunza district has been promoted from the rank of Brigadier to Major General in Pakistan Army. He is the son of Colonel Retired Hadi Hussain.

The promotion board was held at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi which was presided over by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

He is only the second army official from Hunza to be promoted on the rank of a Major General. Major General (Rtd.) Professor Salman Ali was the first army officer from Hunza to achieve this feat.

About 40 other Brigadiers were promoted to the rank of Major General during the promotion board held at GHQ, Rawalpindi.
